Marriyum vows to continue supporting Kashmiris

Discusses aspects of independence movement with Hurriyat leader Bhatt

ISLAMABAD:

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the government will continue to provide moral, political and diplomatic support to people of Kashmir in lines with the vision of PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif.

She was talking to senior Hurriyat leader and Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement President Altaf Ahmed Bhatt, who called on her here on Sunday.

She said Kashmiris are fighting for their birthright of self-determination, which has been recognised by the United Nations.

The information minister also underlined the need of implementing UN resolutions on Kashmir and giving Kashmiris their inalienable right to self-determination. She said both Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif are deeply attached with the Kashmir cause.

Marriyum said Kashmir is a disputed territory whose future remains to be decided, and this issue can only be resolved by allowing the Kashmiri people to decide their future through a referendum.

The minister said the present government will express solidarity with people of Kashmir on August 5 against Indian’s illegal move, adding that Pakistan’s embassies located around the world are being instructed to expose Indian illegal action of August 5.

On the occasion, Altaf Ahmed Bhatt congratulated Marriyum on assuming the portfolio of information minister.

The two leaders discussed different aspects of Kashmir independence movement and prevailing situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
