Deputy Commissioner Maisam Abbas said on Saturday that the Punjab government was ensuring the availability of subsidised flour at fixed rates in the district.
Addressing a district price control committee meeting, he added that samples of subsidised flour were being collected on a daily basis, adding that the two flour mills in Saranwali and three godowns had been sealed after the rejection of their flour samples.
The DC also said that 152 metric tonnes of wehat had been confiscated while a fine worth Rs3.5 million was imposed. Meanwhile, two petrol pumps were also sealed due to incorrect scaling.
He directed the industries department to take action against petrol pumps and shopkeepers found tampering with the measuring systems.
The DC informed fertiliser dealers present that on their request, the Punjab government had abolished the supervisory role of the administration on the sale of fertilisers. He urged the dealers to sell fertiliser to farmers at fixed rates.
