No time for chops: Four hairstyle cues from Sanam Saeed

Here are four ways you can use to style your hair differently without coming under an impulsive spell

When the year starts to feel too mundane, many of us resort to taking our frustration out on our hair – be it chopping off inches or excessively dying it. However, we are here to tell you that you don't need to do all that to change up your hair. As an alternative, we bring you some effortless hairstyles inspired by one of our all-time favourite stars, Sanam Saeed, so to help put an end to those mid-year blues.

Here are four ways you can use to style your hair differently without coming under an impulsive spell!

Effortless waves

One of the simplest hairstyles, this can be used to easily add some volume and personality to your hair. All you need to achieve the look is a curling iron with a two-inch curling rod. The bigger size of the rod will allow your curls to be looser, creating the effortless wave effect. Take a piece of your hair that measures an inch in thickness, and from the cheekbones down, wrap it around the wand holding it there for seven to 10 seconds. Once you release the hair, scrunch it in your hand for another 15 seconds to give the curl the chance to cool. This will also help your curls survive the wrath of the heat and stay for longer. Once your whole head is done, brush the curls to loosen them further and you’re good to go till your next wash day.

The princess ponytail

If your hair is greasier than usual but you haven’t quite reached wash day, we have the easiest solution for you: a ponytail. If it has been previously curled using our effortless waves technique, then you can simply gather your tresses in a high ponytail and call it a day. However, if you want to add some curls, all you need to do is tie your hair into a high ponytail and curl the lengths of the hair. Use the same technique as the effortless waves to achieve similar curls and enjoy a voluminous ponytail, perfect for a hot, summer day.

The messy bun

Lucky for you, Sanam’s ponytail hairstyle can be easily transformed into a messy bun. Curl your hair to create soft waves, tie it into a ponytail and then loosely braid the length of your pony. The curls will help add more volume to the hair and create the messy bun look. Wrap the braid around itself like you would for a bun and pin it in place using bobby pins. Before you commence with the hairspray, tug at a few of the pieces to make the bun messy and let some shorter pieces poke out of the bun. Finish with hairspray to keep the hair in place!

The bouncy blowout

Want a salon blow dry but have no time? This look is perfect if you need a quick hair fix for that Sunday brunch. The twist here is that you can get this blow dry-like look but without having to use the complicated blow dry techniques not all of us know well. Instead, dry your wet hair normally with a blow dryer, turning your head upside down as you do it to add more volume. Once you have dried it, take a curling wand or straightener and use it to curl the end few inches of your hair. Using this technique, you have the volume of a blow dry but the sophisticated curls of a wand or straightener, overall making it look like a blow dry from the salon
