Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Muhammad Shakeel Munir has urged the government to reconsider its decision of closing the markets in Islamabad by 9pm in order to curtail electricity consumption, and allow businesses to remain open till 11pm.
Speaking at a reception hosted by Traders Welfare Association Secretary General Muhammad Naveed Malik, he said that the decision would badly affect business activities and thwart all efforts to improve the economic situation in the country.
“Eidul Azha is approaching and business activities will be at their peak as people visit markets for Eid shopping,” he pointed out. “In the summer season, people normally visit markets and bazaars in the evening hours.”
