ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday said that the government will not allow a “bloody protest” in the country.

Her comments came in response to former premier Imran Khan’s call for protest against inflation.
She claimed that the people now recognise the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief’s “hypocritical face”.

She said that after his claims of external conspiracy were buried, the “fugitive from May 25 [protest]” now wants to spread sedition over inflation left by his government.

“Why should the people come out on the call to sell the national interest for a few diamonds?” she asked. “Why should people respond to lies, sedition, hypocrisy, and thieves?”

She also asked why the people should respond to the call of those responsible for inflation, economic catastrophe, and unemployment, and those who made “weak agreements” with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) when in power.

She pointed out that the one giving the call had hiked wheat flour from Rs35 to Rs90 and sugar from Rs52 to Rs120. “Why should the people go out with those who called for a bloody march; why should the people go out with those who shot the police?” she asked.

The minister wondered why the people should respond to those who want to divide the country into three parts. “Why should the people go out with Kashmir sellers?” she asked.

She said that the incumbent government was correcting the economic direction of the country and “no bloody and riotous protest would be allowed”.
