A fire broke out in furniture and medicine warehouses set up on the first and second floor and of a garments factory on the fourth and fifth floor of a five storey building in Model Colony.
Due to the fire, valuable wooden furniture, medicines and equipment of the garment factory were burnt to ashes.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze after a three-hour long struggle.
Initially, two fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot and started extinguishing the inferno. Considering the intensity of the fire, two more fire tenders were called in.
The owner of the building, Chaudhry Liaqat, told the Express that the fire started at 2 am on the midnight of Wednesday and Thursday.
"The watchman informed me and reached the spot at around 3 am and also alerted fire brigade authorities.
When the fire brigade vehicles did not arrive till 4 am, they informed the police on 15 helpline and Rangers teams reached the spot."
Police officers also reported the fire to the brigade. At around 5.30 am, Ranger vehicles reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire. There were 6 people who were evacuated safely.
Hussainuddin, in-charge of Malir Fire Station, told The Express that he had received a report of a fire at 4:45 am.
Adnan, the owner of the garment factory, refused to speak.
