Imran Khan’s assets grew by Rs60m during last year of his govt

ECP documents show PM Shehbaz owned overseas assets worth Rs130.74m in 2021

PTI chairman and former premier Imran Khan’s assets grew by Rs60 million in 2021 against the previous year, documents issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday revealed.

The commission’s papers on the declaration of assets by parliamentarians further disclosed that Imran’s total assets in 2021 stood at over Rs140.21.

He owned assets worth about Rs80 million in the year 2020. The former premier had a debt of over Rs70 million last year. His assets were worth more than Rs150 million including the loan amount in the year 2020.

However, he had no debt to pay this year.

He had inherited land in Zaman Park, Mianwali and Bhakkar. In the documents, the PTI chairman has shown his Bani Gala residence as a gift. He owned a flat in Grand Hayat Islamabad Tower worth Rs11.19 million.

The former premier does not have any businesses either foreign or local and not even own a car.

Imran has a bank balance of more than Rs63 million and he has $329,000 in his two other accounts. The PTI chief has also declared four goats worth Rs200,000 in his assets.

The PTI chairman has also declared the assets of his wife, Bushra Bibi. She owns two separate lands in Pakpattan of 431 kanals. The former first lady also owns a three-kanal house in Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the other hand owns assets worth Rs245 million in 2021. His assets dropped by 3% in 2021.

The prime minister owns two vehicles and has Rs20 million in his bank account. He also has overseas assets worth Rs130.74 million.

The premier also declared the assets of his two wives. His first wife, Nusrat Shehbaz, owns assets worth Rs230 million, while his second spouse Tehmina Durrani has Rs5.6 million.

PM Shehbaz also has to pay debt of Rs140 million. The premier has also taken a loan of Rs60 million from his son, Suleman.

The documents show that PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari owned Rs1.6 billion assets in 2021, with a bank balance of over Rs120 million.

Bilawal has to pay debt of over Rs300,000. The PPP chairman has shown in the documents that he own businesses abroad.

His father, PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari does not have any overseas business. However, he owned assets worth Rs710 million.

PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi turned out to be the owner of assets worth Rs219.6 million – even more that those of the party chief.

National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf declared the value of his assets as Rs23.6 million while his wife owned 100 tolas of gold.

He showed the value of his house in the posh Sector F-8 of Islamabad only as only Rs2.6 million. The NA speaker also did not mention the value of 32 acres of his inherited land.

PTI leader Murad Saeed has declared a bank balance of Rs2.9 million as well as a car and 12 tolas of gold. However, he does not own a house, as per the documents.

Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser owned assets worth more than Rs85 million, with properties worth Rs60.7 million and a business worth Rs5.8 million. He also holds an amount of Rs9.6 million in his bank account. He has to pay debt of over Rs11 million.

Ex-defence minister Pervez Khattak held assets worth Rs160.7 million in 2021, with a bank balance of Rs30 million. He has pay debt of Rs25.6 million.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah declared assets worth Rs322 million. He showed a bank balance of Rs243.5 million.

As per the documents, Shah owned two vehicles worth Rs14.2 million.

The Sindh CM stated that the value of the house in DHA, Karachi was Rs11.5 million.

Besides, there were two plots worth Rs30 million in DHA, Karachi in the name of his daughter.

The documents showed that his wife owned 100 tolas of gold.

However, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan turned out to be the richest provincial chief executive with assets exceeding Rs2 billion. He also had over Rs190 million in his bank accounts.

The ECP documents disclosed that the K-P chief minister had received Rs87.9 million for selling a land.

As for Balochistan CM Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, his residence is worth Rs2 million. He has Rs100,000 in cash and over Rs1.5 million in his bank account.
