Police have arrested a Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) sub-inspector on suspicion of planning and executing the murder of a head clerk of the corporation.
Police claimed that significant progress has been made in the murder case of Muhammad Ali, 40, an anti-encroachment department head clerk.
"Ibrahim Topi, the alleged mastermind behind the assassination of Head Clerk Muhammad Ali, was apprehended by City Zone Police," said City Zone SSP Shabbir Ahmed Sethar. The detained suspect, Ibrahim Topi, is a KMC sub-inspector, and the victim and the arrested accused had a quarrel about posting and taking charge.
Topi had hired allegedly Shakir Dheela to assassinate KMC head clerk Muhammad Ali. He said that Shakir Dheela was also arrested in New Karachi on Sunday.
According to the police, a further investigation has been launched against the apprehended suspect, Ibrahim. Meanwhile, more raids are being carried out in search of the suspect's fugitive accomplices.
It may be noted that on May 30, Muhammad Ali, 40, KMC Head Clerk, was shot dead at the office of Deputy Director Complaints and Suggestions Cell, by unknown gunmen.
An incident case was registered against an unknown accused at Nabi Bakhsh police station.
