Showcasing talent: ‘the art of painting’

A 10-day workshop on using water colours as a medium of expression ended here at Minerva on Saturday.

According to a press statement issued by Minerva, the 10-day workshop titled “The Art of Painting” was conducted by artist Natasha Iqbal, in which she introduced participants to drawing techniques and hand control, while providing them comprehensive guidance on the use of pastels and water colours.

The participants were given various assignments during the course, the final one detailing a blend between pastels and water colours. The work of these now “amateur artists” was displayed at the closing ceremony and was characteristic of what the workshop offered - “hard work, learning and fun”, the press release said. The exhibition was attended by the participants and their family and friends.

The assignments displayed at the showcasing ceremony varied from basic compositions to detailed paintings incorporating reflections, shadows and drapery. Different light sources had been used during the workshop to give different effects and these were reflected in the paintings.

“The participants were fast learners and very hard working. I am really happy to be a mentor to individuals who have shown immense talent and enthusiasm,” said Natasha who previously also conducted a drawing workshop at Minerva.

The ceremony ended with a photo session of all participants conducted by Minerva’s official photographer, Anum Mughal. A certificate distribution ceremony and words of appreciation by participants and hosts alike gave a perfect close to the workshop.
