The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has remarked that it cannot give directions to parliament and declared a petition regarding amendment in NAB ordinance and consultation with the chief justice mandatory for the appointment of anti-graft body chairman inadmissible and dismissed it.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah issued a six-page written order stating that the procedure for the appointment of NAB chairman was mentioned in Section 6 of NAB Ordinance.
The ordinance says that the president would decide the appointment in consultation with the leader of the house and opposition leader in the National Assembly.

The court said that the petitioner had not challenged the procedure of appointment of NAB chairman in the Supreme Court’s decision which he had referred to.
The apex court had not raised a question on the appointment of national graft buster’s chairman under the NAB ordinance and that the induction does not violate basic rights given under the Constitution.
The court order stated that parliament was the biggest legislative forum of the state.
