Students from minority communities get scholarship cheques

Nearly 3000 minority students benefit from Sindh Minorities Affairs Department funding

Scholarship Cheques worth Rs2.8 million was distributed among 2,875 minorities' students in a ceremony at Sindh Scouts Auditorium under Sindh Minorities Affairs Department on Monday.

The chief guest at the event was Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs Giyan Chand Essarani. Members of Sindh Non-Muslim Welfare Committee including MPA Anthony Naveed, Secretary Minority Affairs Muhammad Abbas Baloch, and Director Minorities Affairs Sindh Tahir Shahzad Thahem were also present at the occasion. A total of which include 1,722 university and 1,153 college level students.

While addressing the ceremony, Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs Giyan Chand Essarani said that he had always tried his best to serve the minority communities. He said that his party leadership directed him to launch the development and renovation work of Temples, Churches, Gurdwaras and other sacred places of minorities throughout the Sindh province.

He said that non-Muslim welfare committee had been formed with representation from all communities belonging to minorities with the mandate of taking decision for welfare of minorities. The Provincial Minister said that our chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership have always taken the notice of the unjust incidents against minorities.
