The missing Karachi teenager Dua Zehra – allegedly kidnapped and forced into child marriage – along with her husband Zaheer were taken into custody by Lahore Police from Chishtian in Bahawalnagar on Sunday.
According to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the investigation Kamran Adil, the capital city police officer (CCPO) Lahore had deemed Dua’s search a “special task” and that the Central Investigation Agency (CIA) of the metropolis, headed by the senior superintendent of police (SSP) for the investigation, had formed different teams to trace the teenager.

The DIG investigation further said that search teams had been operating in different cities and had finally taken Dua and Zaheer into custody from Chishtian.
“Dua Zehra and her husband Zaheer had taken refuge in his brother-in-law’s home. The house belonged to a bank employee named Rafi,” he said.

DIG Kamran Adil added that Dua and her husband have been handed over to Karachi police.
Months long search
The teen had gone missing from her Karachi home in April. In a previous statement, Dua's father Mehdi Kazmi while talking to the media had said that IGs of three provinces had failed to rescue his daughter.
"So far, the police are doing the paperwork only. The police are not making any efforts. I will believe that the police have worked only when they bring my daughter" he had stated.
Earlier this week, the Sindh High Court, displeased at the provincial law enforcement's failure to present teen Dua Zehra in court, had ordered acting IG Sindh Kamran Fazal to stop working.
