BHCBA, ombudsperson to work against harassment

Sabira Islam pushes to work together for implementing the Anti-Harassment Ordinance 2016

Provincial Ombudsperson for Harassment against Women, Sabira Islam on Monday called on Balochistan High Court Bar Association’s (BHCBA) President Abdul Majeed Kakar and agreed to work together for implementing the Anti-Harassment Ordinance 2016 in letter and spirit.

They also agreed to increase the number of awareness campaigns to prevent gender-based harassment in Balochistan and provide a conducive working environment to women.

Rashidur Rehman Advocate and Manzoor Baloch Advocate were also present on the occasion.

The Bar Association assured Sabira Islam that the lawyers would extend all out support for the implementation of anti-harassment laws in the province. They also pledged to play a key role in providing legal assistance to the victims of sexual harassment.

Thanking the BHCBA, Sabira Islam said that the cooperation of lawyers in litigating harassment cases was praise worthy.

She also met ex governor Balochistan Amanullah Khan Yasinzai, Justice (retd) Kailash Nath Kohli, Justice (retd) Ahmed Khan Lashari and Shaukat Rakhshani Advocate and apprised them of the steps taken for anti-harassment in Balochistan.
