The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered Nimra Kazmi to be sent to a shelter home and medically examined. The court remarked: "If you are 18 years old, you will be allowed to go with your husband."
A bench comprising Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Agha Faisal heard the petition regarding alleged abduction of Nimra Kazmi. Nimra was produced before the court along with her husband, Shahrukh.
Taking the stand, Nimra Kazmi told the court that she got married of her choice. The court asked Nimra, "Do you study?" To which she replied: "I am in 10th standard. My parents showed me underage. You can get my medical examination conducted."
Nimra Kazmi agreed to get herself medically examined. The court remarked that it is the law that marriage cannot take place for people who are less than 18 years of age. "How do you know about your age? You must have been told about it by your parents?" the court asked.
Nimra stated that her mother told her age had been understated at the time of registration for school. Justice Kalhoro remarked that according to the documents, the date of birth is May 6, 2008. "If you are less than 18 years, we will decide the case according to the law," the judge remarked.
Meanwhile, the judge inquired about the whereabouts of Nimra's husband. Shah Rukh also appeared before the court. Nimra Kazmi said in the statement that according to Sharia, I can get married. Justice Kalhoro remarked that the court has to look at the law.

Nimra Kazmi stated that no one kidnapped her.
The court restrained the investigation officer from presenting the challan. The court Nimra Kazmi will stay in shelter home until her age is determined.
The court allowed Nimra's parents to meet her. The court also ordered Nimra Kazmi to stay in Karachi for two or three days and adjourned the hearing till Thursday.
