'Decentralized' search engine Presearch might be the next Google

Decentralised Web 3 search engine is ready to take on Google with better aggregated search results

Presearch is an upcoming potential alternative to Google aiming to enter the search query segment. The decentralised search engine just exited its testing phase and might be launching soon.

As Presearch transfers from testnet to Mainnet, all search traffic will run on the engine's decentralized network of volunteer-run nodes.

The Web3 engine announced that “The decentralized network will now process over 5 million daily private searches with the ability to scale to hundreds of millions." The Canadian company took over the domain that reads Presearch.com, changing it from Presearch.org.

Trying to compete with Google, the company is aiming to provide free user data collection using volunteer-run computers, called nodes, to expand results for search queries. Nodes are rewarded with a blockchain-based token for producing results.

The search results from Presearch remove users’ private information with each search request, while also letting anyone volunteer to turn their home computer or virtual server into a node.

In its blog post, the company said “We now have the ability for node operators to contribute computing resources, be rewarded for their contributions, and have the network automatically distribute those resources to the locations and tasks that require processing.”

Presearch launched its Testnet in October 2020 and attracted 3.8 million registered users and 64,000 current volunteer nodes.
