Road blockades have disrupted the supply of petroleum products to fuel stations in different parts of the country, including Punjab, though sufficient stock is available.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) said sufficient stocks of fuel products were available in the country, including the depots in the Punjab region.
Oil marketing companies (OMCs) were making fuel deliveries to the retail outlets. “However, the deliveries are being hampered due to road blockades in major cities of Punjab and may result in delayed deliveries to petrol pumps,” the OCAC said.
It expressed concern about the prevailing situation and the speculation of low stocks in various forums, and requested the public to avoid panic buying.
“There are ample stocks of Mogas (petrol) and HSD (diesel) in the Punjab region and OMCs are making their best efforts to top up the retails outlets timely, despite the road blockages,” the OCAC said.
The oil industry body shared its concern with the Punjab chief secretary and requested for the support of local administration for the safe and secure movement of tank lorries from depots to petrol pumps across the province, till the situation got normalised.
