Elahi calls PA session for today

Session summoned after ECP de-seated 25 PTI members for dissent

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has summoned the assembly session on Sunday (today) following the de-seating of 25 PTI dissident lawmakers by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday.

After the de-seating of the former ruling party’s dissident MPAs, the opposition demanded that Elahi summons the assembly session to elect a new chief minister, saying Hamza Shehbaz was no more the CM.

Earlier, the assembly session was scheduled to be held on May 30. But speaker Elahi, under Rules 25-B of the assembly, called the session on Sunday at 12:30 pm. A notification in this regard has also been issued.
