Kartik Aaryan clarifies dating rumours with Sara Ali Khan weren’t a promotional stunt

Reports of actors linking up surfaced during 'Love Aaj Kal' but many called it a façade

Kartik Aaryan has opened up about rumours of him and Sara Ali Khan having dated each other. Both were seen as a couple in Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal and were alleged to be hooking up around the same time. The two eventually, reportedly broke up and never spoken about their supposed romance or subsequent breakup publicly. Thus, there was also hearsay about it all being a promotional façade.

Now, when asked if there was any truth to the link-up reports being a promotional stint for films, Kartik told Navbharat Times, "No, no. There was nothing promotional there. How do I explain this? We are also humans, not everything is promotional. That is all I can say about this topic."

Love Aaj Kal was the first time Kartik and Sara worked together in a film. During the shooting, amid dating rumours, the actors were often spotted together outside of sets. During her appearance on Karan Johar's chat show Koffee with Karan, Sara had admitted to having a crush on Kartik. Reports claimed that Sara and Kartik broke up weeks before their film’s release on February 14, 2020 and even unfollowed each other on Instagram later.

After initially dodging the question, Sara told Pinkvilla in 2020, “I am dating him in the film. That’s all that matters. Please come and watch us ‘dating’ for 2.5 hours on Valentine’s Day.” When asked specifically about real life, she clarified that she was not dating him. The two were recently spotted chatting at an award function in Mumbai. Fans of the actors commented on a picture of theirs in hopes of a ‘reunion’, as per Hindustan Times.
