Imran to unveil Islamabad long march schedule on Friday

Addressing lawyers' convention, former premier calls for liberating the country from 'American subservience'

Former prime minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said that he would announce a date for the planned long march towards Islamabad on Friday.

Addressing a lawyers' convention in Lahore, Imran urged the participants to support him in his movement being waged for "liberating Pakistan in actuality," Express News reported.

He asserted that the struggle by his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is aimed at liberating the country from the subservience of the US, and reiterated that the incumbent government came into being as a result of the 'American conspiracy'.

"We reject the bandits and the looters sitting in the government," he declared. "We will have to liberate this country for our children."

The ousted prime minister urged the lawyers to make Islamabad march a success similar to the role they played in the success of the Pakistan Movement.

Later, former information minister Fawad Chaudhry posted a video of the convention on his Twitter handle.

On April 10, Imran, the 22nd prime minister of Pakistan, who became the first chief executive to be removed from office after losing the majority in the National Assembly.

Imran’s party, which governed the country for over three-and-a-half years, had been struggling to stay in power as its allies betrayed to join hands with the opposition parties that had joined forces against the government.

While Pakistan’s history has been marred with political instability, no prime minister has ever been removed from office through a no-trust motion.
