SESSI security guards’ minimum wages raised to Rs25,000
Body decides against regularisation of ad-hoc employees hired by SESSI during coronavirus emergency
KARACHI:
Sindh Minister for Labour and Human Resources Saeed Ghani has said that the minimum monthly wage of the security guards, associated with Sindh Employees' Social Security Institution (SESSI), has been raised to Rs25,000.
The labour minister stated this on Monday while chairing the 159th meeting of the governing body of the SESSI at the committee room of the Sindh Assembly.
Sindh Government's Labour Secretary Laeeq Ahmed, SESSI Commissioner, Ahmed Ali Qureshi, and other senior officials were also present.
The meeting decided that new agreement would be signed with the relevant private security agency to raise the minimum monthly wages of the SESSI's security guards to Rs25,000 and also register them with SESSI and Employees Old Age Benefits Institution (EOBI).
The governing body also decided that the services of the employees hired by the SESSI on ad-hoc basis during the coronavirus emergency would not be regularised. The participants of the meeting were of the view that these staffers had been categorically informed at the time of the recruitment that their employment was only for the period of coronavirus emergency.
The governing body decided that these staffers were eligible to apply against vacant positions at SESSI as they would be given preference for regular jobs. The meeting also gave initial approval for provision of a timescale mechanism for the promotion of SESSI employees from grade 1 to 15 and above. The labour secretary and SESSI commissioner will scrutinise all promotion cases and compile a report for the purpose.
