Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar met an unfortunate fate and tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday. The actor shared the news on social media along with the announcement of him missing the prestigious Cannes Film Festival this year. Kumar was supposed to walk the red carpet on the opening day of the 75th anniversary of the film festival as part of the Indian contingent along with Shekhar Kapur, Pooja Hegde and A.R Rahman.
The Sooryavanshi actor took to Twitter and wrote, “I was really looking forward to rooting for our cinema at the Indian Pavilion at Cannes 2022, but have sadly tested positive for Covid. I will rest it out.” He further sent his wishes to the Indian team travelling and tagged the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur who’s leading the team. “I’ll really miss being there.”

The comment section was full of wishes for fast recovery for the Bachchhan Paandey actor. “Wishing the entire family the best of health. Take care sir. Awaiting your tweet when you say you’re fine and coming back stronger on sets,” a fan commented on the post.
India was announced as the official country of honour at the Marche Du Films, which is also called Cannes Film Market. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Nayanthara, Tamannaah Bhatia and Vani Tripathi along with renowned folk singer Mame Khan, two-time Grammy winning composer Rickey Kej, and CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi are part of the Indian contingent to the festival. Along with that, the Indian actor Deepika Padukone is a part of the jury at the international film festival this year as well.
