Iranian scholar hailed for compiling encyclopedia

The Secretary of the Academy of Literature of Iran, Dr Mohammad Reza Nasiri, thanked Sargodha University Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar on Saturday for his assistance in compiling an encyclopedia of the subcontinent

He was addressing an international seminar organised by the university’s Department of History and Pakistan Studies, in which proposals for enhancing cultural and social ties between Pakistan and Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, Central Asia and the subcontinent were considered. Dr Nasiri was a special guest in the seminar chaired by Dr Mazhar, which was attended by a large number of faculty members and students.

Addressing the seminar, Dr Mazhar said the people of Pakistan and Iran were socially, culturally, religiously and historically connected. He said different nations could be brought closer by providing opportunities for their educated people of to come together.

He added that Iran gave great importance to its culture, language and history, due to which an honest society was being formed in the country.
