Approximately 86% housing societies were found as illegally operating.
This has been revealed by Chairman, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal while participating as chief guest in a cheque distribution ceremony organised at NAB Lahore Complex Thokar Niaz Beg.
Addressing the affectees of housing scams, he advised the public to be more cautious while booking any plot, flat or house for them. During the ceremony, he also gave away cheques worth Rs1.05 billion to the victims of multiple scams.

Lahore NAB Director General (DG), along with other senior Officers, affectees and some government officials also attended the ceremony.
While addressing the affectees, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal stated that NAB has taken the responsibility to secure the rights of affectees with full commitment and thorough zeal and zest. He remarked accountability process as a herculean task and said that a strong institution would be in better position to root out corruption from society.
He further said NAB has recovered Rs864 billion since its inception, whereas, under his tenure as the NAB chairman the bureau has, so far, recovered Rs584 billion.
