A total of 13 nomination forms were submitted for the NA-240 by-elections on Monday. Candidates vying for the seat vacated by MQM-P MNA Iqbal Muhammad Ali have submitted a total of 89 papers within three days.
The deadline for submitting nomination papers is Tuesday. According to Election Commissioner Korangi and Returning Officer Abdul Razzaq, so far, ten nomination papers have been submitted, including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM-Pakistan), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Tehreek Labaik Pakistan.
MQM candidates Muhammad Abu Bakar, Sher Zaman and Masood Mahmood, two candidates from PTI, Gohar Khattak and Khan Zaman, have filed nomination papers. PPP's Naeem Sheikh has already submitted his nomination form, and TLP candidates Shehzada Kashif Rizvi, Allama Kashif Rizvi and Abdul Sattar Marwat, while independent candidate Eric Mushtaq have also submitted nomination forms.
NA-240 by-election will be conducted on June 16. The NA-240 by-election polling scheme will be ready in the next few days. According to sources, almost all of the more than 290 polling stations will be declared sensitive. The number of voters in this constituency is more than 520,000.
District Election Commissioner Korangi and NA-240 Returning Officer Abdul Razzaq wrote separate letters to SSP Korangi, Korangi Administrator and Deputy Commissioner for security plan, improvement of arrangements and preparation of transport plan.
