Two young men were killed while three suffered serious injuries during an exchange of fire between two families.
The members of opponent families of Kanjburi, a village on the outskirts of Battgaram, had come to Battgaram to offer Eid prayers at the Tablighi center.
During the Eid sermon, the two sides had a heated argument with each other. After the prayers, they members of the families came out of the Tablighi center and opened fire at each other. As a result, two young men from both sides named Majid Khan and Nawaz were killed while three men, including a passerby were injured.
After receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital.
Police said that three suspects involved in the firing incident have been arrested and further investigation is underway. According to locals, relations between the two families had been strained for the past few months and there were frequent quarrels between the two families which led to bloodshed and resulted in the loss of two precious lives and turned the joys of Eidul Fitre into mourning.
