LAHORE:

Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and former federal minister Moonis Elahi have condemned the filing of an FIR against former prime minister Imran Khan. The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders said the Sharif family had not learnt from history.

Pervaiz Elahi asked what the PTI chairman had to do with an incident that had taken place in Masjid-i-Nabwi. He said the registration of cases against Imran and other leaders was reprehensible. He said that the Muslim world had paid homage to Imran Khan for pursuing a resolution against Islamophobia in the United Nations.

Moonis Elahi said politics of revenge had become a norm for the Sharif brothers. He said then former prime minister had made it clear that he could not even imagine giving instructions of which he had been accused. He said Imran was the first Muslim ruler who had demanded from the Western governments that the perpetrators of blasphemy should be punished.
