KARACHI:

A dust storm is expected in the city today on Monday, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said in weather warning issued on Sunday.

The meteorological department has forecast maximum temperature of 35-37 degrees Celsius in the city today while mercury is expected to hover between 34-36 degrees Celsius during the three days of Eid.

On Sunday, the weather in the city remained hot and dry for the second consecutive day with mercury hitting 39.5 degrees Celsius. PMD said the gusts of hot wind blowing from north and northwest Balochistan kept the sea breeze at bay leading to higher heat index.

According to PMD Early Warning Center, a westerly weather system will enter Balochistan today. The weather system is expected to bring winds blowing up a dust storm in southern Balochistan and Sindh including Karachi.

However, some districts in Sindh are likely to get some rain too. According to the Early Warning Center, temperatures in rural Sindh's Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jacobabad, Larkana and Sukkur could be recorded between 47 and 49 degrees Celsius.
