Murree tourism police formally launched
In order to facilitate and protect tourists in Murree, Rawalpindi Police launched the Murree tourism police.
RPO Rawalpindi Ashfaq Ahmad Khan and CPO Rawalpindi Omar Saeed Malik inaugurated the Murree tourism police at Lower Topa.
Murree tourism police initially include 150 police officers and personnel, a special tourist van, 03 specially prepared vehicles, 25 motorcycles, horse riding squad.
Following the success of the pilot project, the tourism police will also be launched in other tourist destinations of Punjab like Katas Raj, Nankana and Fort Monroe said Ashfaq Ahmed Khan.
For the convenience of tourists, the Murree tourism police had been launched before the Eid holidays which will perform its duties 24/7, said CPO Rawalpindi Omar Saeed Malik
Special plans have been drawn up for the Eid holidays and long weekends to facilitate tourists, said CPO Rawalpindi.
Call Murree tourism police helpline 1757 in case of guidance or emergency, he said.
RPO Rawalpindi Ashfaq Ahmad Khan said that Patriata Police Station and Pahguari Police Station have also been made functional from today for the safety and service of citizens and tourists. In Murree, SP Kohsar is already performing his duties.

He said that an awareness campaign will also be launched for the awareness and guidance of tourists.
Implementation of SOPs will be ensured in all cases to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during holidays, said CPO Umar Saed Malik.
Police officers, local administration officers, bar officials, civil society and media reporters attended the inauguration of the Murree tourism police.
Officer Naveed Irshad, SP Kohsar Haider Ali and UTASP, SHO Murree, SHO Patriata and SHO Pahguari were awarded certificates of appreciation for their outstanding performance in setting up the tourist force.
