A screenshot of the beta version of WhatsApp released on the internet has analysts predicting that the company is working on a feature that will allow users to use different devices to chat but on the same account.

The screenshot found on WABetaInfo gives instructions to users for registering a 'companion' device by scanning a code on your main phone. While another screenshot found in the previosu beta gave hints on an upcoming feature that would sync all recent messages despite being end-to-end encrypted.

Discovered on the android version of the app, analysts predict that chatting would be possible on secondary phones and tablets.

WhatsApp already supports the multi-device feature for a singluar account, though under Linked Devices, which only supports computers as secondary devices. The feature was launched in Novemeber 2021 and has been improved by the company.

WhatsApp's parent company, Meta, hasn't commented on the rumour.
