PPP does not need alliances for LG polls

Party’s Sindh president tells activists to make all preparations for elections

KARACHI:

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to take full part in the local bodies’ elections in Sindh.

It has not formed any electoral alliance with any party and, therefore, its candidates will be fielded for every seat in the local body elections in Sindh.

These views were expressed by PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro as he addressed a meeting of PPP Mirpur Khas Division, one of the divisions of the first phase of local body elections, at the People's Secretariat Karachi on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Waqar Mehdi, Noman Sheikh, Pir Aftab Shah Jilani, Mir Munawar Talpur, Hari Ram Kishori Lal, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Engineer Gyanchand, Qasim Siraj Soomro, Surinder Valasai, Arbab Lutfullah, Faqir Sher Muhammad Bilalani, Sufi Muhammad Nawaz, Noor Mohammad Bhargari, Punjo Mill and others. The meeting reviewed the report on the applications submitted by aspiring candidates for party tickets in the local body elections.

On the occasion, PPP Sindh President Nisar Khuhro said that the workers should make full preparations for the local body elections and intensify the door-to-door liaison campaign. He said that party tickets would be issued to local body representatives on the basis of performance. He said that people have confidence in PPP.

"The PPP will also win the local body elections. Meanwhile, Nisar Khuhro has demanded that a forensic inquiry be conducted to confirm the authenticity of the letter written by Shah Mehmood Qureshi to Asad Majeed regarding Imran Khan and US President Joe Biden's phone call management.

Nisar Khuhro said that Imran Khan, who was talking about a foreign conspiracy against him, also met US officials and waited for their phone calls. The fake drama of Letter Gate has been created by Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, he asserted. He said that Imran Khan was spreading chaos in the country by making false statements in the name of a so-called American conspiracy.

Khuhro said that Imran is conspiring against the institutions and the country, and we will thwart his scheme. He said that Imran Khan's manifesto was lies, deception and chaos and we will expose PTI everywhere.
