Four illegal structures demolished

Owners of the properties had violated approved plans and maps

The Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate has carried out a demolition operation against four illegal and unauthorised residential cum commercial buildings on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi.

Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) spokesperson said that the MP&TE Directorate Deputy Director Planning Choudhary Atif Mahmood, Assistant Directors, Building Inspectors and other staff with the assistance of the police from the relevant police station demolished two illegal buildings near Taj Marquee, one commercial building at Gulshanabad housing scheme and one illegal building at Kehkashan Town housing scheme in Rawalpindi.

He said the owners of the properties had violated approved plans and maps, therefore violating the Punjab Development of States Act 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations, 2020. He said the owners constructed illegal residential cum commercial buildings without approval or a No Objection Certificate.

Following the directives of RDA DG, the MP&TE Directorate has been actively conducting operations against illegal, unauthorized commercial and residential construction activities including plazas, shops, schools and other illegal lands in RDA controlled areas.
