LAHORE:

A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC), headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, will resume on Monday the hearing of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s petition for return of her passport for Umrah.

In her petition, Maryam said that she wanted to go for Umrah, but her passport had been surrendered on the order of the court. Therefore, she requested the court to order the return of her passport, so that she could visit the holy site.

Earlier, a two-member bench of the Lahore High Court, headed by Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi, heard the petition. Supreme Court Bar President Ahsan Bhoon appeared before the court, saying that Maryam wanted to go to Saudi Arabia on April 27 to perform Umrah.

Justice Rizvi remarked that it would be appropriate that the same bench which granted bail to Maryam hear the petition. The judge forwarded the petition to the LHC chief justice. The chief justice sent the petition to Justice Najafi-led bench.
