Police nab eight lawbreakers after ‘encounters’

Three injured after encounter with Sohrab Goth police

Police arrested eight suspects involved in various crimes including robbery and snatching during five police encounters in different areas of the city.

The law enforcers recovered weapons, snatched mobile phones, cash and motorcycle from their possession. Sohrab Goth police arrested three armed suspects named Raziullah, Salahuddin and Sultan Haider after an exchange of fire near Superhighway Quetta Town Road on Saturday night.

The suspects sustained bullet injuries during the encounter. According to Sohrab Goth police, the injured accused have confessed of their involvement in more than two dozen incidents of street crimes including robbery in the area of SITE Superhighway, Sachal and Sohrab Goth.

A motorcycle has also been recovered from the arrested suspect. The vehicle was allegedly snatched from a citizen before the encounter. The accused also reportedly shot the citizen for resisting. However, the local survived.

A mobile phone, snatched by the arrested accused, was also recovered. The citizen identified the arrested suspects. According to the police, the nabbed accused had already been arrested and sent to jail earlier.

Detained suspect Sultan Haider was previously arrested by Bilal Colony police for his involvement in motorcycle lifting and had been in prison before his release.

In another incident, Taimooria police arrested two suspects, including one who was wounded, in an alleged police encounter near Bufferzone's Namak Bank. The cops recovered a pistol and a motorcycle from their possession.

According to police, the injured suspects were identified as Allah Ditta and Naseer Ahmed. The accused were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police records of the arrested suspects are being checked.

Meanwhile, Khokhrapar police arrested Shah Rukh Khan during an alleged police encounter near Malir Degree College and recovered a pistol from his possession. His accomplice managed to escape from the scene. According to police, the arrested accused has revealed his involvement in various crimes during the preliminary investigation.

Law enforcers added that CCTV footage of the incident of looting from the citizens on April 23 has also come to light in which the suspect can be clearly seen. The injured accused has been rushed to hospital.
