KARACHI:
Syed Ahmed Ali Shah came to court on Friday in an attempt to push the authorities into returning his 16-year-old brother, Qasim Ali Shah, who went missing in May.
Shah told Chief Justice Musheer Alam and Justice Imam Bux Baloch that four men from the law enforcement agencies took his brother away from his grocery shop on May 29. He lodged a FIR with a police station but the police have yet to recover Qasim Shah.
On Friday, the Sindh High Court bench issued notices to the federal interior secretary, Sindh home secretary, and Sindh IG police. The Mochko police station SHO and SIO and Sindh advocate general were also put on notice for an unspecified date.
The second hearing for a missing person was on a case about the alleged illegal captivity of Dr Ajmal Waheed and Arshad Waheed. The case was put off until later by the same bench as the petitioner’s lawyer was not present.
The ministry of foreign affairs deputy protocol officer told the bench that Dr Ajmal Waheed was taken into custody by the UAE authorities for his alleged links with terrorist outfits. Meanwhile, a third doctor, Dr Ayaz Ali Khan has been extradited to Pakistan by the UAE authorities.
