A two-member bench headed by Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi heard the petition against the construction of portions in the Gulshan-e-Zafar Sindhi Muslim Society and has raised questions on the legality of portions.
The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) counsel argued that the portions were not for sale The third and fourth floors are being constructed on Plot NoA/1. Counsel for the petitioners contended that his clients purchased the first and second floor-further construction of portions on the plot should be stopped.
Justice Rizvi remarked that making portions is tantamount is destroying Karachi. Instead of one family livng on a plot, 20 families move in and settle. What will happen to water, electricity, and gas facilities? Mukhtiarkar and Deputy Commissioner are getting everything done with bribes. With the construction of portions, even motorcycle parking will not be available, and portions cannot even be subleased.
The court sought arguments on the legality of the portions. Petition on China cutting of playground The Sindh High Court adjourned the petition regarding China cutting on a playground in Khurramabad Society due to the petitioner’s absence. The SBCA’s counsel argued that 20 plots were carved out of KDA ground. The plot buyer applied to be a party to the case. The petitioner’s counsel argued that he obtained the plot per the law.
The court remarked that it was apparent that China-cutting was done on the playing field, but the petitioner did not appear in the court for many hearings. “The petitioner may have settled the issue out-of-court; this happens in such cases,” the court remarked.
