India cancel 4-nation hockey event

LAHORE:

Hockey India has called off a four-nation hockey tournament to take place next month after New Zealand pulled out from the event.

The event, where apart from hosts India and New Zealand, Pakistan and Argentina were also taking part, was to be held in Jalandhar from September 20.

The cancellation comes as a huge setback for the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) as they were relying on it to improve their preparation for the Champions Trophy that takes place at the end of the year.

“It’s definitely a setback for us as it puts off our preparations for not only the Champions Trophy but the London Olympics as well,” said PHF General Secretary Asif Bajwa. “Although the Olympics are a good few months away and we still have time to provide exposure to our team but playing against three quality teams was ideal preparation for the Champions Trophy.”

Why would anyone refuse to come to land of honey, milk, yoga, dance and fun?
