This is how you should clean your wireless earphones

Study reveals earbuds can harbour 119, 186 germs, which can lead to ear infections and other serious illnesses

Wireless earphones have become quite popular in the recent years, whether its the latest luxury earbuds, or the cheaper ones, these small devices have provided convenience listening to great quality sound.

However, when did you last clean your earphones properly? The brown dirt and wax collecting around and in your earbuds cant be left on the little devices. According to a study, earbuds can harbour 119, 186 germs, which can lead to ear infections and other serious illnesses. Sharing your earphones with a third person can transfer germs and infections to other people. Humidity while placing your earphone can also create ideal conditions for bacteria to breed.

Here is how you can clean your earphones, using just basic tools like paper towels, toothbrush, tweezers, Q-tips, and hand soap. Samsung and Apple have warned users not to use rubbing alcohol or other liquids especially on speaker grills, mic holes, or charging ports.

Blowing air into the speaker grills with a rocket blower or blow dryer comes highly recommended. You could use your mouth to blow into your earbuds which might knock away dust and flakey earwax, but can be unsanitary and deposit your own saliva on to the grills. Point the speaker grills away from you and towards the floor, while use the blower to point up directing at the earphone but away from your face.

If your earphone have eartips, remove and clean them with a Q-tip or toothpick which removes wax that has been built up there, while with eartips with rubberized fin or comb can be cleaned with a toothbrush. Gently dab at the nozzle and speaker grills to clean up the wax remanants there, however, pushing too hard can cause fibers to get caught. You can use a toothpick or a wood skewer to clean up the corners and edges's of the speaker's cavity.
