KASUR:

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fayyaz Ahmad Mohal said that the Punjab government had set a target of procuring 75,000 metric tonnes (MT) of wheat for the Kasur district.

He addressed the media after inaugurating the wheat procurement campaign 2022 and launching the 'bardana' gunny bags at a shopping centre in Kasur city on Friday. The DC said that wheat would be procured at the rate of Rs2,200 per maund and delivery charges of Rs9 per kg will be paid to farmers. He added that no individual or entity would be authorised to purchase or store wheat without food green licence and strict action would be taken against violators.

The DC said that in the light of special instructions from the Punjab government, wheat would be procured from farmers and 'bardanas' would be provided on a 'First come first served' basis without any discrimination. He said that 14 wheat procurement centres were set up in areas across the district, including Kasur, Bedian, Khudian, Mandi Usmanwala, Talundi and elsewhere.

Additionally, 14 check-posts had been set up at different places to curb wheat smuggling.
