ISLAMABAD:

Hours after the Supreme Court decision on Thursday that set aside National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling, ordering vote on opposition’s no-confidence motion on Saturday, Prime Minister Imran Khan said he would address the nation on Friday (today) after chairing a cabinet meeting.

Writing on microblogging website, Twitter, the prime minister said that he had also summoned a meeting of the parliamentary party meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He added that he would continue to fight till the last ball.

“I have called a cabinet meeting tomorrow as well as our parliamentary party meeting; & tomorrow evening I will address the nation. My message to our nation is I have always & will continue to fight for Pakistan till the last ball,” Imran tweeted.

Imran’s tweet came after the Supreme Court set aside Deputy Speaker Suri’s ruling about rejecting the opposition’s no-confidence motion under Article 5 of the Constitution on Sunday. The court also restored the National Assembly.

After the apex court judgment, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that the “unfortunate verdict” of the Supreme Court (SC) raised the political crisis in the country. Fawad said in a tweet that political stability could be brought through the immediate organisation of fresh elections.

“This unfortunate decision has exacerbated the political crisis in Pakistan. Immediate elections could have brought stability to the country. Unfortunately, the importance of the people has been overlooked. Let's see how things go,” he tweeted.

Habib emphasised that the opposition would see the results in the upcoming elections, adding that the nation would show how to treat conspiracy puppets and turncoats.

PTI Senator Faisal Javed said in a statement that the victory would belong to the nation, adding that Pakistanis would become a great nation. He added that Premier Imran would announce his next strategy soon.
