ISLAMABAD:

As the National Assembly takes up the vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday and the chances of ruling PTI to remain in power get dim, a “sluggish” pace of work was witnessed in the federal secretariat with the officials adopting a “go slow” policy.

Regretting the tardiness of the officials in the ministries, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid noted that the meeting of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) scheduled to be held on Friday for the approval of development of projects was cancelled due to the bureaucracy.

Sources said that officials in the ministries had started adopting a go slow policy until a decision on the no-confidence vote was made and were “stopping files”. On Friday, most of the divisional secretaries left their offices early.

On March 8, a delegation of senior opposition lawmakers submitted the no-trust motion against PM Imran with the National Assembly Secretariat stating that he had lost the confidence of the House.
