District Central to install CCTV cameras

Project launched in cooperation with NSDC to curb crimes

A project has been launched in District Central in collaboration with the Neighbourhood Security Development Committee (NSDC) to install high resolution CCTV cameras.

In this regards, a meeting was held with West DIG, Nasir Aftab and Central District SSP, Maroof Usman regarding community policing of District Central, Nazimabad and North Nazimabad. The meeting took place in the conference room of the distric.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the aims and objectives of the Community Policing Centre, NSDC, a joint venture between the District Central Police and the business community, regarding the newly formed Neighbourhood Security Committee.

During the meeting, executive member Murad Soni and others briefed DIG Nasir Aftab about the camera installations.

District Central SSP appreciated the efforts and cooperation of the traders.

Talking about the working mechanism of NSDC, he said that it would act as a bridge between the police and the people and was an important step towards community policing.

He said that the establishment of North Nazimabad NSDC has helped a lot in curbing crime as a result the graph of street crimes has come down in the areas where cameras have been installed.

In case any crime takes place, the police with the help of installed cameras can arrest the culprits, they said.

DIG West Nasir Aftab informed the NSDC members that Falcon Force staff would be provided by the police for patrolling to the Community Policing Centre NSDC.

The members said that initially the project has been launched with 75 cameras but it will be expanded to 150 cameras later. These 4MP cameras are high resolution.
