Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced two-month remission for prisoners in the province.
The outgoing chief minister said after the approval of the summary for the remission that he had made record number of visits of the jails of the province to inspect the provision of basic facilities to the prisoners as per the government responsibility.
He said the provision of good quality edible items to the prisoners in the jail canteens was ensured. The number of telephones in every jail was increased to provide easy contact of prisoners with their families.
The PTI leader said jails reforms were undertaken after 158 years during his rule and the government took exemplary measures for the welfare of prisoners.
Usman Buzdar also met MPAs and former provincial ministers Punjab Assembly and discussed the strategy for ensuring the victory for Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the election of the new chief minister. “We believe in politics of public service and we did everything for the development of the province and the prosperity of the people,” he said on the occasion.
He expressed confidence that the ruling coalition’s joint candidate Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi would be elect chief minister with majority vote.
Chief Minister Buzdar said his conscience was clear because he had served the people of the province and would continue to make efforts in this regard.
He claimed that there was no scandal of corruption against him and he had not treated anyone unfairly. “I believe in respect, tolerance and giving honour to everyone,” he added.
Buzdar stated that Punjab Assembly Speaker Pervaiz Elahi shared a relationship of mutual respect with him. “Our full support is with Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi,” he said.
