Khel Kay Jeet
Just when you thought nighttime television couldn’t be more interesting, Express TV has another surprise up its sleeve, set to debut on the first of Ramazan. Known for his performances in popular dramas like Sinf-e-Aahan, Pehli Si Muhabbat, and films such as Parey Hut Love, Sheheryar Munawar is all set to host Pakistan’s newest Ramazan game show Khel Kay Jeet.
Prepare to wrack your brain as you try to solve brain teasers and puzzles with the game show audience, allowing for a much-needed mental workout post-iftaar. While it is common to expect game shows in Pakistan to put forward the same old silly jokes and slapstick humour, Express TV is taking things up a notch with some healthy competition and invigorating new games with viewers that are bound to get your mind and body working.
Hum Tum
Ahad Raza Mir is set to make his TV comeback with this highly-anticipated Ramazan special! Promising the beloved enemies to lovers trope, the rom-com has been described in promotional material as “a 2022, modern and Gen Z rendition of a hate to love story”. Hum Tum is set to see Ahad starring opposite Ramsha Khan. The serial will also feature Junaid Khan and Sara Khan.
The script for the show has been written by Danish Nawaz and Saima Akram Chaudhry, both of whom previously worked together on last year’s OKB and Ayeza Khan-starrer Chupke Chupke.
Hum Tum will revolve around the relationship between two cousins, essayed by Ahad and Ramsha. The duo will play college-going students bonding over their shared excitement and disdain for their subject of interest - chemistry.
Paristan
Last year’s hit serial Chupke Chupke’s breakout stars Arslan Naseer and Aymen Saleem are all set to star in their next Ramazan special, titled Paristan. The duo are set to play on-screen sweethearts navigating the trials and tribulations of their personal lives. The rom-com appears to be a slice-of-life serial, perfect for viewing with your cup of post-iftaar chai.
The serial also stars Javeria Saud, popular vlogger Mooro, Merub Ali, Mira Sethi, Ali Safina, Junaid Jamshed Niazi and Navin Waqar. Directed by Ali Hasan, the script for the serial has been written by novelist Samra Bukhari.
Chaudhry and Sons
Also written by Saima Akram Chaudhry, this rom-com is set to feature everyone’s favourite Pakistani sweetheart, Ayeza Khan. She will be seen starring alongside actor Imran Ashraf. The official Instagram post describes the serial as “a mega-project featuring fun, romance and drama with a star-studded cast, encapsulating the significance of family reunion.”
The light-hearted comedy will also star Sohail Ahmed, Asma Abbas, Irsa Ghazal, Noor ul Hassan, Zoya Nasi, Madiha Rizvi, Shagufta Ejaz, Yasir Nawaz and Sami Khan. The serial will follow a family split in two due to a cultural divide, with half being raised in the typical Punjabi way, and the rest growing up in Hyderabad.
Piyara Ramazan
Ramazan is known to be a peaceful time of spiritual cleansing. When you want to relax and pass the time before your Roza opens or post-iftar, Express Entertainment is bringing you exactly what you need. Hosted by popular television anchor and businesswoman Rabia Anum, Express Entertainment will debut a different kind of Ramazan transmission this year, keeping in mind all the cultural elements that make the holy month special. With additional segments creating a spiritual atmosphere, Piyara Ramazan is set to offer a Ramazan experience that truly resonates with the Pakistani audience.
The transmission consists of a sizzling cook-out competition, Kitchen Master, starting at 4 pm so the family can enjoy together and get inspiration for iftar recipes with the help of celebrity chefs. After the cooking concludes, and before results are announced, there will be an exclusive fun and chatty celebrity interview session, titled Hum, Tum Aur Humaray Mehman. The transmission then delves deeper into Ramazan's roots with Piyara Kalaam a naat recitation, followed by an exciting yet educational storytelling session for children.
