The Utility Stores would sell 19 essential food items at prices lower than those in the open market under its Ramazan relief package.
The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) in a statement issued on Thursday announced that customers could avail a subsidy of up to Rs3,000 at any of its 4,000 retail outlets spread across the country by simply showing their CNICs.
Under the package, a 20kg wheat flour bag would be provided to customers at Rs950. In the open market, its price is between Rs1,100 and Rs1,350.
Similarly, the 1kg of sugar would be sold at the rate of Rs85 against between Rs86 and Rs93 in the open market.
The rate of 1kg ghee at a USC outlet would be Rs260 in comparison with Rs470 in the open market.
The price of one litre of edible oil at an USC outlet during the month of Ramazan would be Rs407 instead of Rs494.

Under the package, the USC is offering white gram at Rs213 per kg. In the open market, the rate of white gram is between Rs250 and Rs260.
Likewise, Besan (Chakki) would be available at a price of Rs170 per kg during Ramazan instead of between Rs190 and Rs220.
The price of 1kg of Dal Channa would be Rs162 at a USC outlet against the open market rate of between Rs180 and Rs190. Similarly, 1kg of Dal Moong Washed would be offered at Rs170. In the open market, its price is between Rs180 and Rs200.
The rate of Dal Mash Washed at a USC outlet would be Rs268 per kg against the market rate of between Rs280 and Rs320.
Dal Masoor at a USC outlet would be offered at Rs215 per kg. In the open market, its rate is between Rs250 and Rs280.
Dates would be available in ample quantity at all USC stores at Rs140 per kg. In the open market, the selling price ranges between Rs200 and Rs240.
The USC is offering tea (950gm) at Rs1,042 while in the open market, it is available at Rs1,250 (950gm).
Milk (UHT) would be available at a USC outlet at Rs142 while in the open market, it is available for Rs165.
Squashes and syrups (800ml) and (1500 ml) would be offered at subsidised rates of Rs250 and Rs437 at a USC outlet, respectively, instead of Rs290 and Rs495 in the open market.
Spices would be offered at a discount of 10% at a USC outlet along with 15% discount on 1,500 other food and non-food items (jams, pickles, detergents, shampoos, etc.) under the Ramazan relief package.
The statement added that in line with the prime minister’s vision of Digital Pakistan, the USC has also successfully transformed itself by implementing enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in a short span of time which would go live from March 31, 2022.
“Through one of the largest public sector digital transformation, the USC during the month of Ramazan would be able to provide exhaustive services to its customers by acquiring self-accountability, transparency and efficiency in its operations.”
