HYDRABAD:

The railway traffic moving through Hyderabad region was disrupted on Thursday morning as two separate low intensity blasts in Kotri and Hyderabad ripped apart the upcountry tracks. The Shalimar Express was scheduled to move through that track in Kotri sometime later, but the train, in addition to the Pakistan Express and Bahauddin Zakaria Express, were stopped at different stations.

The police believe that the banned outfit Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz of Shafi Burfat, which celebrates Sindhu Desh Day on March 31, is involved in the attacks. The first explosion occurred on the upcountry track in Khursheed Town area near the Kotri railway station in Jamshoro.

According to a report of the Bomb Dispsal Squad, between 300 grams to 400 grams of explosives were used in that blast which damaged 19 inches part of the track. In the second successive explosion up to 250 grams were used. Nine inches of the upcountry track was damaged in the second attack. The report described the explosives as Non-Electric Devices.

The police and the Rangers secured both the sites as the BDS collected evidence which was handed over to Kotri SITE and Pinyari police stations. An official of the BDS said that similar devices were also used in the past attacks on the tracks. The incident's FIR has been lodged on complaint of Counter Terrorism Department nominating unknown persons.
