RAWALPINDI:

A man allegedly committed suicide on Adiala Road within the limits of Saddar Bairuni police station.

His family informed the police that he set himself on fire in the toilet.

Police said that 55-year-old Younis Mirza had an iron chain around his neck while the other part of the chain was tied to the washbasin.

After receiving information about the incident, police and Rescue 1122 workers rushed to the spot.

According to an initial investigation, Mirza’s family claimed that he had committed suicide but in light of the evidence at the scene, police have declared the case as suspicious as they saw the body was tied in chains.

The body was transferred to District Headquarters Hospital for an autopsy in the presence of police.

Police said the case would be registered after receiving the autopsy report.

Man bludgeoned to death

A man named Ghulam Hussain was found bludgeoned to death at an under-construction house on Wednesday.

Samir Iqbal, a resident of Dhok Qazi, registered an FIR in the Pindigheb police station. He informed the police that they live in a townhouse in the village but they were also constructing new houses outside the village.

“My father used to go there to sleep every night. Two days ago, as per his routine, my father went to sleep. We became worried when he did not return home for breakfast in the morning,” he said. “I went to the roof of the house to look for my father and found him dead.

His body was covered with blood and he had deep wounds on his face and his throat was also cut.

There were scars on other parts of his body too” he told the police.

"We have no enmity with anyone," Iqbal claimed. He said that an unknown man had killed his father. Police have registered an FIR on the complaint of the plaintiff.

Upon receiving the information, police reached the crime scene and after a thorough examination of the incident, sent the body to Pindigheb tehsil headquarters hospital for post-mortem.

The body was handed over to the family after completing legal and medical formalities. Police are looking into the case.
