A 20-year-old labourer was crushed to death after the roof collapsed in an under-construction house on Peshawar Road.

A Rescue 1122 spokesman said the house was under construction when the roof covering 10 marla collapsed. As soon as the incident reported, the rescue teams rushed to the spot.

Emergency vehicles, an ambulance, a fire rescue team and more than 10 rescue personnel took part in the operation. After half an hour, personnel were able to reach the labourer named Abrarul Haq buried under the rubble, he said, adding that the collapsed roof was cut with the help of electric machines. “Rescue workers with the help of machinery recovered the body of the labourer and shifted him to the hospital, but he did not survive due to severe head and rib injuries.”

Westridge police registered a case and started an investigation into the tragic incident. The cause of the incident has yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, police have not been able to arrest the killers of a taxi driver who was found dead on Monday. The deceased named Jahanzeb Khan was found dead in the jurisdiction of Golra police station in the federal capital.
