After taking charge at Mirpur Mathelo headquarters, ASP Irum Awan visited various police stations and the sub-jail in the area where she listened to the problems of the prisoners.
Later Awan visited the female patients admitted to the Hospital in District Ghotki, Mirpur Mathelo and Daharki.

Wish u best of luck, Ms Awan. U have chosen a difficult path. Best of luck
It may be a positive sign in our society, but in a land where there is no law, it is a joke to appoint a female. I guess this is only a PR stunt and would fade away pretty soon.
Lets see for how long we will be able to see this pretty face in police.
Excellent newspaper...internationally affiliated. For, it's a social development in pakistan.
Proud to say that this is my cousin. :)

Great!!!Wishing her a very bright future!!!
It's not the government that has made her ASP. She's gone through the tough journey of exams, interviews, and trainings. Wish her a great future ahead.
This is a very positive development and hopefully the ASP will do her best and set a great example.
It was a long awaiting demand of women police officers which were pending for decades.
Though the government took the decision very late, but with the first appointment of woman ASP, the recruitment should also be held in the entire Pakistan.
I hope that government will now take another couple of decades to appoint the second woman ASP somewhere in Pakistan and from there it should go on and on.
Excellent news. Its high time that Pakistani women are emancipated instead of being wasted on minor roles or being confined to the home. Who knows, if this trend continues, we might even get lady maulvis. Now that would really shake things up.
Hope for the best.
Male police officers have failed miserably as we have seen in Karachi. So, time to appoint females.
Nice development.
