ACP hosts Sindh Literature Festival

Musical performances, book launches carry into second day

The Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi and Sindh Literary Foundation organised a musical performance at the end of the first day of the Fifth Sindh Literature Festival.

Young artists performed to various evergreen songs, including folk tunes. Iqbal Rind, AH Khanzada, Sabin Saif, Mansoor Sahir, Dr Hina Umbereen Tariq, Waheed Noor, Ahmad Solangi, Ali Akash, Ghulam Ali Wafa, Ayub Gul, Isa Khamosh. Saeed Ahmad Saadi, Afzal Hazarawi, Irene Farhat, Muhammad Ali Zahid, Amir Pirzado, Shamim Marri, Muhammad Ali Pathan, Yasmeen Chandio, Seema Abbasi, Dr Subhash Babu, Imtiaz Danish, Sedrah Jabbar and others presented their speeches and poems to much acclaim.

The festival is in full swing at the ACP Karachi. The second kicked off with the launch of Lecturer Saleem Jamali's book Gustakh Mohabbat. Jamali spoke, while Halar Nawaz performed the duties of director.

On this occasion, the speakers said that literature plays a very important role in society. The ceremony of Psychological Study of Shah Latif was held at Auditorium I in which Dr Ahmed Soomro and Aftab Abro spoke, while Fahim Shinas was the moderator.

The third session started with Salma Ahmed Alam's book Agents of Change. In the fourth session of the festival, Mehtab Akbar Rashdi and Amr Pirzado spoke, while Rizwan Gul performed the duties of moderator.

Writer Amar Pirzado said that Anwar Pirzado has spoken of the love for Sindh and women's rights. "It made women the target of social change. Even when there was no idea of celebrating Cultural Day, they still celebrated English Cultural Day."
