Preparations are underway to import a vaccine to prevent lumpy skin disease in cattle.

According to government sources, the ministry of national food security and DRAP are finalizing proposals regarding imports.

Sources say that there is a plan to import lumpy skin disease vaccine through private sector. Private companies have submitted applications for vaccine imports.

Government sources said that consideration was being given to importing the lumpy skin vaccine from Turkey.

The price of vaccine will be kept within the reach of farmers. On the other hand, food security officials said that animals infected with lumpy skin were being vaccinated through sheep and goat vaccines.

Food security officials say that the milk of animals suffering from lumpy skin disease could be used by boiling it well while the meat of infected animals could also be eaten. Officials said that Lumpy skin disease was found in animals in Karachi, Hyderabad, Bahawalpur, Jamshoro and Thatta.
